Vintage Halloween Costume Ideas 2012

So my beau and I had grand ideas this year for our Halloween costume. We were going to do Dr. Who. He would obviously be Dr. Who and I was going to be a weeping angel, a scary stone creature from the show. The life-size stone angel is a project indeed and I am realizing that I am not sure I have left enough to make the Halloween costume. Correction. I definitely have not left myself enough time to make the costume.

So I am scrambling for something fast that I haven't done before. I always love something inspired by vintage or old movies or history. No, the Dr. Who thing isn't vintage, but we trade off. One year he chooses the costume, the other I choose. It is his year this year and so Dr. Who it was to be. Last year I chose the costume and it we did Psycho. He put on a grey wig and a granny dress for me. Gotta love a man who will do that for you.

Looking around online, I have found a lot of inspiration. One of my favorites has been this silent film star costume from the blog Shrimp Salad Circus. Honestly, I think we all already have the clothes in our vintage closet to make this happen, it just needs to be colorless.

Kind of along those same lines, here is a really cute makeup tutorial for a Betty Boop Halloween costume.

  1. You've probably seen the Weeping Angel costume that's been all over the blogs, but have you seen her step-by-step for it? Probably impossible to do in time but maybe file it away for next year!
